Jagame Thandhiram - Movie Review
Jagame Thandhiram starts with the fight between the two gangs ( Nativist vs Refugees) in London. Somewhere it brought the Madurai local gangster Suruli there.Suruli caught between the good and bad.The love between the Suruli and Srilankan refugee girl Attila ( Aishwarya Lakshmi) made Suruli to look into the perception among two gangs and choose him to go in a right way.
Starting off from acting Dhanush power packed performance each and every characters acting was so good. The film speaks about Immigrants politics.
Even though film travels as per the story it went with usual old Tamil cinema theory in the depth that made the audience felt boring rather than expectation. At last it was a experimental movie.
In direction wise it has Karthick Subburaj usual touches and trademarks. The film somewhere remainds Tarantino film making styles, Goodfellas long trunk shot,Nayagan,Kannathil Muthamittal, Kaatchi Pizhai (first short film of Karthick Subburaj) and Petta. The film has a strong emotional content about srilankan refugees moved the audience into tears at some scenes.I personally liked the character of Murugeshan Annan.
Doing justice for the story made JT felt disappointed among the audience. But Karthick used all the characters in the movie usefully to move the story from ( Suruli's Mother to Attila's brother).Films has too many single shots, brilliant visuals and new film making styles but failed in shifting of genres between gangster and war.
Cine scrutiny gives the 3 stars out of five for Jagame Thandhiram
⭐⭐⭐.
